WE CARE: INDONESIAN CHARITY BAZAAR
Gamelan Padhang Moncar and Gamelan Taniwha Jaya performed twice as part of this successful (and sunny) fundraising event for the victims of natural disasters in Indonesia (Mt Merapi eruption and Mentawai tsunami).
Musicircus (Crescendo of Chaos)
Gamelan Padhang Moncar was part of Musicircus in the Blow Creative Arts Festival run by the College of Creative Arts/Toi Rauwharangi, Massey University, Wellington.
Musical Hunters and Collectors
A concert of Balinese gamelan music and compositions by I Wayan Gde Yudane, one of Bali’s most innovative of composers. Performed by Gamelan Taniwha Jaya and NZSM students of PERF 252/352.
Sumatran Sounds
This concert of Indonesian music and dance from West Sumatra featured percussion, dance and song in traditional music and dance and innovative new compositions created by leading Minangkabau composers and choreographers.
NZSM Percussion Day
Jack Body presented Balinese gamelan at the NZSO/NZSM Percussion Day, with I Wayan Gde Yudane and students from PERF250 and members of Gamelan Taniwha Jaya
SMP Ensemble concert
Gamelan Padhang Moncar performed Lou Harrison’s Ketawang Wellington as part of the SMP Ensemble concert, Echoes
An Evening of Traditional Javanese Music and Dance
Students of PERF 250 presented three traditional pieces as their final performance assessment, followed by six Indonesian dancers performing Gambyong Parianom accompanied by Gamelan Padhang Moncar
Wayang Kulit at the Southeast Asian Night Market
Gamelan Padhang Moncar accompanied Dunedin-based dhalang Joko Susilo performing Wayang Kulit (Shadow Puppetry) in the midst of the busy Night Market.
